Chequessett Yacht & Country Club

Community Work

Chequessett is very involved in our community and each year we host numerous local charity events to help in their fundraising efforts. Here is a partial list of events and charities we are hosting this year. Please contact us if you would like information on how to participate.

Cape Abilities Clambake and Dance – July 8th

For over 40 years, Cape Abilities has provided support for people with disabilities on Cape Cod. Cape Abilities was founded as Nauset Workshop in 1968. Since then, we have grown to serve all of Cape Cod – from Bourne to Provincetown. Our services have expanded to include jobs, housing, transportation, day habilitation and entrepreneurial businesses.

Most recently, we have launched Cape Abilities Farm. We employ more than 50 people with disabilities and grow award-winning produce. Although we have grown significantly, our mission has never changed. We are proud that through our services, people with disabilities have been empowered to live meaningful and active lives in their own towns across Cape Cod.

If you need additional information, please be in touch with us by phone at 508-778-5040 or email at news@CapeAbilities.org.

Wellfleet Montessori Preschool Concert – August 4 from 6pm to 9 pm.

The Wellfleet Preschool was established in 1976 by a group of local mothers to provide a supervised environment for preschool children on the lower cape. Over the years, the school has evolved from a playgroup to a certified Montessori preschool, run jointly by the parent members and salaried teachers.

Our mission is to celebrate and foster the natural curiosity and potential of the individual child within a learning environment that invites children to discover and recognize the unique gifts and interests of self and others. Through deliberate modeling of respect, kindness and responsibility, we guide children toward confidence in their ability to create and serve their local and global community.

Beachcomber American Cancer Society Fundraiser – September 11

For the past two years the Beachcomber Restaurant has raised over $20,000 for the American Cancer Society. The Beachcomber raises funds for the American Cancer Society because of the wonderful work they do:

How we're creating more birthdays

We save lives and create more birthdays by helping you stay well, helping you get well, by finding cures and by fighting back. Here are just a few ways we're creating a world with less cancer and more birthdays.

We give free lodging and support for cancer patients in treatment.

We've been part of nearly every cancer research breakthrough.

Our volunteers drive thousands of cancer patients to treatment.

There are 11 million cancer survivors, but we can’t stop there.

We fight for smoke-free communities across the country.

The progress we're making against cancer helps save 350 lives a day.

Research that we support has helped more children survive childhood leukemia.

We fight for millions of women to get the cancer screenings they need.

Our programs help guide cancer patients through every step of their journey.

Wellfleet Historical Society – August 19 – 6pm to 9 pm

The Wellfleet Historical Society was organized in 1951 to foster an interest in the town and its history. Membership is open to all residents and visitors to Wellfleet.

The society's collection includes old photographs, maps, documents, marine artifacts, Indian artifacts, a small collection of period clothing, household, agricultural and commerce related items. Special theme exhibits are planned for summer months.

Monthly meetings take place May through September with varied programs and speakers. A schedule of these free programs can be viewed on our Programs and Events page or on our handy Event Calendar page. Refreshments are served and all are welcome. The Society's newsletter, "The Beacon" is published each spring and is distributed to our members. "The Beacon" can also be viewed and printed from our website: www.wellfleethistoricalsociety.com

In 2010 we donated our facilities for these worthy causes:
